As human beings, we experience emotions all day, every day. We wake up in the morning and are hit with our first wave of emotions. If you’re lucky, maybe that first emotion is gratitude for another day and all the blessings in your life. As a working momma, I can recall countless mornings that started very differently. In the shower, my mind was flooded with everything that I had to do to get us both fed, lunches packed, and out of the house on time.
Driving him to school, my brain was on fire thinking about everything that awaited me at the office, feeling totally stressed. Some days, by mid-morning, I felt as if I had put in a full day’s work. Most nights I'd rush to pick up my child from practice wondering what in God's name can I make for dinner tonight. By then, the well was dry. Total exhaustion but I still managed to cook, clean, help with his homework, and guide the bedtime routine.
When my head finally hit the pillow, exhausted and depleted, my mind would sometimes still race, reviewing the events of the day, stuck in a cycle of worrying about everything that I had to do the next day.
Finally sleep. Wake up. Repeat.
Unfortunately, for so many, particularly working moms, this kind of schedule, stress, and overwhelm is typical. With it comes an endless stream of thoughts and emotions, many of them negative.
As human beings, it is a normal experience to be full of emotions. Emotions give our life meaning and color. Some of these are really big and others we hardly notice at all. These emotions and thoughts are just energy. The energy of intense emotions (usually negative) can become trapped. A trapped emotion will always lodge somewhere in the body, usually in the trunk and can occur at any age. Wherever it lodges, it distorts the body’s normal energy field which causes imbalances in the body that can lead to a host of issues including emotional issues like depression and anxiety, inflammation, illness, pain, self-sabotage, and so much more.
For example, if you have a trapped emotion of anger, that energy vibration is part of you that can make you more prone to anger because part of your energy field is vibrating at the energy level of anger. The average 40 year old has hundreds, sometimes thousands of trapped emotions. It’s like an invisible net and we can feel like we are being held hostage.
Trapped emotions and chronic stress comes at a huge cost to our body’s immune system and our overall sense of wellbeing.
The good news is, when we release these trapped emotions, the body is allowed to return to it’s normal, healthy, undisturbed state. We often feel better physically, calmer emotionally and in control.
